Accessibility defines how individuals with disabilities access electronic information. In making information accessible VASTEC removes barriers to electronic data, which in turn provides those individuals the ability to understand it through use of assistive technology devices.
Both government and commercial providers of electronic information have accessibility requirements. Many of these requirements are defined by Section 508, an Amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, that requires Federal agencies make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities.
VASTEC provides a wide range of Accessibility and Section 508 compliant solutions, through affordable, accessible, and innovation services that can meet the latest WCAG 2.0 AA standards. This includes PDF accessibility services designed to maximize document accessibility.
VASTEC ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES INCLUDE:
- Website Accessibility Review
- PDF Document and Form Remediation
- Accessibility Training
- Section 508 Consulting
- VASTEC Verified Compliance Certifications
In every project VASTEC’s best practices guide production of electronic documents to meet and exceed Section 508 standards. Industry leading quality assurance measures include review of the documents by assistive technology quality control testers to ensure individuals with disabilities have access to and use of information and data that is comparable to that of persons without disabilities.
VASTEC offers extensive knowledge of and experience with many popular assistive technology applications and devices including speech-to-text, magnifying and screen reading software. Patented technology allows the disabled full access to the content of their documents without affecting the document’s visual appearance and is compatible with all screen readers without changes.

The VASTEC Verified seal of approval is provided on material that has been remediated and certified to VASTEC’s accessibility standards
Included in the VASTEC Verified Process is the use of visually impaired AT testers during the quality control process. Each team member has the last word on the accessibility of a remediated document, such as a PDF. If approved the document is ready to be delivered to the client. In the rare instance where an accessibility issue remains, the AT tester works directly with the project lead to fix it.
Electronic information that is approved as accessible by the visually impaired AT testing team can then be certified as VASTEC Verified.
